Tanishqa Bhosale from Pune has been appointed the state directress of the Miss Universe India competition for Maharashtra. She is the founder of the Miss Universe Maharashtra competition and will be responsible for the selection of the representative(s) from the state of Maharashtra for the upcoming Miss Universe India contest – the Indian preliminary event to the world’s biggest beauty pageant, Miss Universe. Tanishqa is no neophyte to the world of beauty pageants. A former Miss India, her tryst with pageantry began in 2018 when she was crowned Miss India International and represented India at the 2018 Miss International competition in Japan. She is regarded as one of the most beautiful Miss India winners in recent times and is one of the youngest winners in the history of Indian pageantry. Tanishqa holds a master’s degree in business management and is a model and entrepreneur. She began her journey as a Miss India with the Glamanand Group in 2018 and now, after 6 years, she is going to commence yet another journey with the same organization however, in a different role. From being a beauty queen to becoming a beauty queen maker, her journey has seen several milestones and crucial events that have shaped her into the person she is today. In this exclusive interview with the Beauty High magazine, she talks about her journey and her latest role of being a pageant directress.
Q. Many congratulations to you on being appointed the state director for the Miss Universe India competition. How does it feel to shoulder such a prominent responsibility?
Answer: Thank you so much. It is always a pleasure working with the Glamanand team as they make you feel like family. Yes, it is a great responsibility, but significant achievements only emerge from big responsibilities. I am very excited to see how this unfolds.
Q. What inspired you to take up the role of a beauty pageant director, and what keeps you motivated in this industry?
Answer: Being a former Miss India, pageantry is like home and being associated with such a prestigious beauty pageant, I believe it goes without saying I couldn’t have let this opportunity slip away. Seeing so many girls aspire to be beauty queens and wear a crown, even to be called ‘India’ on an international stage, is what to this day gives me goosebumps and keeps me motivated to be a part of this industry.
Q. Please tell us about your journey in the beauty pageant industry. When did it begin and how has your experience been so far?
Answer: When I was 18, I started my grooming and training at the Tiara Pageant Training Studio and was fortunate enough to have a coach and mentor like Ms. Ritika Ramtri. It was at her academy, where I met Mr. Nikhil Anand and filled my registration form for Glamanand Supermodel India 2018. I still get overwhelmed with great happiness when I look back to the day when I was crowned Miss India International, 17 September 2018, the day my life changed forever. After winning the title, I continued working with the Glamanand team and now, I am honored to be the state directress for Miss Universe Maharashtra. My experience so far has been nothing less than a dream, filled with warmth, love, and laughter, and seeing all the team members work so hard has only inspired me to give it my all.
Q. How do you stay attuned to ever evolving trends and preferences within the beauty pageant industry?
Answer: There is no one way to stay attuned with the current trends in the pageant industry. The industry has diversified so much over the years that is difficult to have just one approach to stay updated. I spend most of my time doing research and following the reforms and changes that are currently taking place in the pageant circuit. Digital media and online platforms have played a vital role in it. I have huge respect for the pageant industry in my heart because this is the place where my life changed. Staying attuned to the ever-evolving trends and preferences within the industry requires a proactive approach to learning and adaptation. This involves thorough industry research through websites, and social media platforms to keep abreast of the latest developments. Additionally, networking and communicating with the professionals in the beauty and fashion sectors provides valuable insights and fosters collaboration.
Q. What is going to be your plan of action now that you have been assigned the responsibility of selecting your region’s representative(s) for the prestigious Miss Universe India 2024 competition?
Answer: From scouting candidates, to conducting auditions, to making a state pageant happen, have been my prime priorities since I got this position. We started from scratch and tried to form a team, and now, we have been delegating work and keep each other updated about the progress.
Q. Can you please share some behind-the-scenes insights into the planning and execution of the selection process that will be conducted to select your region’s representative(s) for the national finals of Miss Universe India 2024?
Answer: As the state directress for Miss Universe Maharashtra, the selection process is a meticulously planned journey focused at discovering the most deserving representatives from our region. We start with open applications and regional auditions to ensure inclusivity and diversity. Our team evaluates candidates based on a range of criteria, including beauty, intelligence, confidence, and social awareness. The finalists undergo intensive training and preparation under our guidance to excel at the national pageant. Our goal is not only to crown a winner but to empower women and showcase their talents on a larger platform, representing our state with pride and grace.
Q. What qualities are you going to be looking for while selecting your region’s representative(s) for the upcoming Miss Universe India competition?
Answer: I believe, confidence, intelligence, and eloquence in communication are crucial. We also prioritize candidates who demonstrate a strong sense of social awareness and empathy, as Miss Universe is not just about glamour but also about making a positive impact on society. Additionally, resilience, determination, and a genuine passion for representing our state will be key factors in our selection process. Overall, we are seeking well-rounded individuals who embody the values of Miss Universe and are poised to make a meaningful difference on the national and international stage.
Q. Once the selection of the representative(s) is done, will there be any training program that the representative(s) will be attending prior to heading to the national finals?
Answer: Once we have crowned our state winner, she will be guided and supported for everything till she reaches the national pageant.
Q. What is the most crucial piece of advice that you would like to share with the individuals that want to join the beauty pageant industry?
Answer: The most crucial piece of advice for individuals aspiring to join the beauty pageant industry is to stay true to yourself. While it is important to work on your physical appearance, focus equally on developing your inner beauty, confidence, and authenticity. Embrace your unique qualities and strengths, and let your personality shine through. Remember that beauty comes in many forms, and it is your individuality that will set you apart and resonate with others. Additionally, never underestimate the power of hard work, dedication, and resilience. Success in the beauty pageant industry requires commitment, perseverance, and the willingness to continuously learn and grow. Stay humble, stay focused, and always believe in yourself.

Answer: Our team has been working really hard to make the most prestigious pageant of them all, Miss Universe India, a big success.
