Barsha Kiran from Assam has been selected as one of the finalists for the nation’s biggest and most prestigious beauty pageant for teenagers and adolescents - Miss Teen Diva. Born in Guwahati, Barsha is a student at the Spring Dale International School. She is a model and trained swimmer. Barsha enjoys swimming, horse riding, dancing and playing cricket in her free time. She has also won the title of Miss Teen Northeast India in the past. She is a polyglot and can speak 5 languages including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali and Nepali. In this exclusive interview with the Beauty High Magazine, she talks about her preparations for the Miss Teen Diva finals and her journey till now.
Q. Many congratulations to you for getting selected for the national finals of Miss Teen Diva 2023-24 competition. How does it feel? What were the first thoughts that crossed your mind when you got the news that you have gotten selected to compete at the 2024 Miss Teen Diva contest?
Answer: Being selected in a prestigious national pageant like Miss Teen Diva did evoke mixed emotions, including excitement, pride, and possibly some nervousness. It's recognition to my talent and hard work, offering an opportunity to showcase my skills on a reputed platform. Receiving the news of my selection for the national competition was a surreal moment, a rush of emotions blending joy, gratitude, and a hint of disbelief. It marked the culmination of dedication and hard work, sparking anticipation for the journey ahead.
Q. Tell us more about the place you belong to.
Answer: Assam, located in northeastern India, is a region of rich cultural diversity and natural beauty. Known for its lush tea gardens that produce world-renowned Assam tea, the state is characterized by the mighty Brahmaputra River flowing through its plains. Assam is home to diverse indigenous communities, each contributing to the vibrant tapestry of the state's traditions and festivals. The Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is famed for its one-horned rhinoceroses and diverse wildlife. With a blend of scenic landscapes, unique wildlife, and a tapestry of cultures, Assam captivates visitors and holds a special place in the hearts of those who call it home.
Q. Enlighten us in regards to your preparations for the upcoming Miss Teen Diva competition.
Answer: I am working hard on all the areas possible, from my communication skills to my runway skills to presentation skills; I am making sure that I dedicate a specific period of time, each day to all these activities. I want to give my best as such opportunities don’t come easily.
Q. In your opinion, what are the qualities / traits that you believe could help you move ahead in the competition?
Answer: The qualities that I believe could help me move ahead in the competition are my will to never give, confidence, a positive mindset and an optimistic perspective on life.
Q. Tell us something about your hobbies and areas of interest.
Answer: My hobbies include playing cricket, swimming (I am a trained swimmer), dancing and horseback riding.

Q. Who / what is your biggest support system?
Answer: My greatest strength lies in the unwavering support and love I receive from my parents. Their guidance, encouragement, and sacrifices have shaped the foundation of my resilience and determination, propelling me forward with gratitude and purpose.
Q. When you look back in time, what is the biggest life lesson that you have learnt?
Answer: Past pageant experiences have been valuable lessons, teaching me the importance of preparation, self-confidence, and staying true to my authentic self. I've grown from any mistakes made, understanding that each setback is an opportunity for improvement. These experiences have fueled my determination to approach future pageants with increased wisdom, resilience, and a commitment to continuous self-improvement.
Q. In your opinion, what is the best way to handle criticism?
Answer: I view criticism as a constructive tool for personal and professional growth. Rather than being discouraged, I use feedback to identify areas for improvement and strive to turn challenges into opportunities. By maintaining an open mind, I embrace constructive criticism as a pathway to refinement, understanding that it ultimately contributes to my journey of becoming the best version of me.
Q. One piece of advice that you would like to share with the individuals who want to join the beauty pageant industry.
Answer: Entering the pageant industry requires a combination of confidence, authenticity, and dedication. Focus on developing a strong sense of self, honing your communication skills, and showcasing a genuine passion for your chosen platform. Embrace continuous self-improvement, stay informed about current issues, and actively engage with your community. Remember that resilience and a positive attitude are crucial, as the pageant journey often involves both successes and challenges.
