Actor Krishna has passed away, making Mahesh Babu the third member of his family to pass away this year after his mother and brother.
In the passing of veteran Tollywood star Krishna, we lose the father of Telugu actor Mahesh Babu. The film community quickly flocked to social media to pay tribute to the star after the news broke. In May of this year, the 79-year-old veteran actor Ghattamnaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy celebrated his birthday.
The death of his wife Indira Devi in September reportedly left the legendary actor depressed. His eldest child, Ramesh Babu, passed away in January.
There was a worldwide outpouring of grief after the news of Krishna's death spread. Earlier today, N Chandrababu Naidu, a former chief minister of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, mourned the passing of Krishna. To commemorate the occasion, he shared a photo from his past with Tollywood Superstar Krishna on Twitter. The politician expressed his condolences, calling Mahesh Babu's passing "the end of an era in cinema."
Krishna had a 50-year acting career, during which he appeared in over 350 films. When the 1960s rolled around, he was just getting started in his profession. For his work in the Indian film industry, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2009. Krishna's portrayal of Alluri Sitarama Raju, a legendary freedom fighter from coastal Andhra Pradesh, cemented his reputation as a charismatic and bold actor.
