Journey to the crown – An exclusive interview with Srija Banerjee, Miss Teen Diva 2023-24 finalist
Srija Banerjee hailing from the city of joy, Kolkata has been selected as one of the finalists for the nation’s biggest and most prestigious beauty pageant for teenagers and adolescents - Miss Teen Diva. Srija is a student of ninth grade at the Lycee School, Kolkata. This young multipotentialite is an international Karate champion and has also won the All Bengal Singing competition in the past. Her hobbies include singing, dancing and writing. Srija is a polyglot and can speak three languages including Bengali, Hindi and English. In this exclusive interview with the Beauty High Magazine, she talks about her preparations for the Miss Teen Diva finals and her journey till now.
Q. Many congratulations to you for getting selected for the national finals of Miss Teen Diva 2023-24 competition. How does it feel? What were the first thoughts that crossed your mind when you got the news that you have gotten selected to compete at the 2023-24 Miss Teen Diva contest?
Answer: Thank you so much. I am still in disbelief that I got selected for such a prestigious competition and I am grateful to Mr. Nikhil Anand for seeing potential in me. The first thought that came to mind when I received the news about my selection was – “Yes, I did it” .I am so excited to meet Nikhil sir, our reigning queens and my fellow candidates.
Q. Please tell us more about the place you belong to.
Answer: I belong to the state of West Bengal, more accurately I come from the city of joy, Kolkata. Kolkata is a place which is known for its culture, heritage, historical landmarks, and literary contributions. My city and state is most famous for the Durga Puja celebrations and the wonderful architecture.
Q. Enlighten us regarding your preparations for the upcoming Miss Teen Diva competition.
Answer: The preparations for Miss Teen diva 2024 are going very well. My team captain, Sejal Gupta has been helping me a lot. Nikhil sir is also preparing us in the best possible way. I would like to say that I am working very hard for this competition and I am leaving no stone unturned to win this competition.
Q. In your opinion, what are the qualities / traits that you believe could help you move ahead in the competition?
Answer: I believe the qualities that would help me move ahead in this competition are, first I never give up. Until and unless I get what I want I never give up. So, my persistence is one of my greatest qualities. Second, I am a very hardworking person who never shies away from working hard. I am also a very sincere person who does everything with utmost sincerity. I believe these qualities would help me move ahead in the competition.
Q. Tell us something about your hobbies and areas of interest.
Answer: I love to read books, learn new languages, play word games, and I also enjoy listening to music. These are mainly my hobbies. I love composing and creating music as well. I have a keen interest in writing stories, poems and song lyrics and singing .Apart from this, I also like to know about the world.
Q. Any quote or saying that has a profound impact on you.
Answer: The quote that has a profound impact on me is –
“Do one thing every day that scares you.”
- Eleanor Roosevelt.
I believe this is the quote I live by every day and try to follow it in the best way possible.
Q. Who / what is your biggest support system?
Answer: My biggest support system will always be my parents. Because of them I am what I am. They have the utmost belief in me and have always helped me whenever I have asked them for help. They have always encouraged me to chase my dreams and have supported me in every possible way. I will always be grateful to them.
Q. When you look back in time, what is the biggest life lesson that you have learnt?
Answer: If I look back in time, the biggest lesson that I have ever learnt is to never give up and to always work hard. Whenever I have worked hard for something the universe has helped me achieve it. So I have learnt it the hard way that nothing comes easy. You have to work hard for everything you want in life.
Q. In your opinion, what is the best way to handle criticism?
Answer: I believe the best way to handle criticism is to not react when you are being criticized. Take in all the criticism and work hard in silence about the things you were criticized about and show the person who criticized you the true and the better you.
Q. One piece of advice that you would like to share with the individuals who want to join the beauty pageant industry.
Answer: I would like to share this advice with the individuals who want to join the beauty pageant industry - It is absolutely not easy. Whatever you see on stage or on your screens, you have not seen the amount of hard work and patience it has taken to reach that stage. Some people think it's only about how beautiful you look or how good your body is. Being in beauty pageant industry is about having both beauty and brains. You may be beautiful but if your communication skills are weak you will not be able to survive in this industry. So both beauty and intelligence go hand in hand.
