Karolina Bielawska - Journey To The World
Miss World is the oldest running international beauty pageant that was started in the year 1951 by founder and ex-chairman - Mr. Eric Morley. Since then, they have served as an inspiration for all other international pageants that are present today and have crowned gorgeous ambitious women that are pretty inside and out. While most fans are smitten by their beauty, what we often forget is the work and preparation that these extremely inspiring ladies go through to reach this glory of being crowned the most beautiful woman in the world. As we cherish every moment of her reign, let us look back and understand what her journey to the crown looked like. Starting with our reigning queen - Elsa. Oops! I mean Karolina.
Karolina Bielawska was crowned as Miss World Poland even before Toni won Miss World! Yes, that’s true. She had participated in her national pageant - Miss Polonia 2019 - and represented the city of Łódź. She won the title on 24th of November 2019, that is 20 days before the crowning of Miss World 2019. In fact, she was also present at the venue of Miss World 2019 to support her national predecessor - Miss Polonia 2018 - Milena Sadowska.
With a beauty that can get Barbie screaming with jealousy, queen Karolina is surely one of the most beautiful Miss Worlds of all time. But if you have been a loyal Miss World fan, you would know that it takes more than just physical attributes to even qualify for Miss World, let alone win it, and sure enough we have got ourselves a queen. Having been crowned Miss Polonia more than two years ago, Miss World Karolina had plenty of time to prepare and bring on her best game, and she knew exactly what to bring to the table. We're here to break down her entire Miss World Preparation for you, starting with the soul of MW - BWAP Project.
Beauty With A Purpose
Every Miss World fan and aspirant knows what role BWAP plays in the pageant, and sometimes we see people coming up with last minute ideas to show as their beauty with a purpose project. What makes a girl stand out is the amount of thought, effort and genuineness in her volunteering work. In the case of Karolina, she definitely understood the assignment. While preparing for the Miss World pageant, Karolina would dedicate her weekends to serving the community and those in need after the lockdown got lifted in her country. She volunteered at a community service - Zupa Na Pietrynie - that is dedicated to meeting homeless people and other people in need and providing them with food and clean water. Karolina would not just help in distributing the food packets, but also in preparing, packing and serving them along with the other volunteers of the service. In fact, she also had one of the longest BWAP videos this year that was around 12 minutes long. She speaks about how there are around 32000 people in Poland, living through a homelessness crisis and thousands of them live without any shelter, medical aid or even food on their plate. She speaks about poverty in her BWAP video, explaining how poverty is not just being naked, hungry or homeless and how real poverty is the feeling of being unloved, unappreciated and not cared for. “Service has struck me with purpose. And purpose has strengthened me with meaning” she iterates as she further explains what got her to start volunteering, and how it has been going ever since. She further puts emphasis on how she and her fellow supporters at Zupa Na Pietrynie aim at providing the homeless community with entities that meet their physical and mental needs. Besides making clean food and water available to these people in need, they would also provide them with clothes and medical facilities.
What makes her video so special is that it is filled with hope. Hope that the world can have a better future, if we choose to put in the effort required. It is inspirational, it motivates one to step out of their comfort life and do something for the less fortunate. As the former Miss Universe Lara Dutta once said - people will not remember you for how you look or what you are wearing but will remember you the way you treat other people. Miss Karolina is the embodiment of that ideology.
Traditional Dance
In an interview by TVP World, telecasted in Poland, Miss Bielawska revealed that she had started to learn a Polish Folklore dance for the Dances of the World Competition. She went on to explain how she would be dancing the Kujawiak, which is one of the five national dances of Poland. It is a Polish folk dance from Kujawy, a historic region in northern-central Poland. Karolina explained how the dance itself is not easy, but attempting to do it with the traditional attire that weighs around 10 kgs is much harder. She further described how the dance has several turns and swirls and it was hard for her to stop turning on time and get to the next step easily because of the weight of the dress and overall execution from her end. She laughs about how she is not the best dancer in the world and how she just started learning Kujawiak from scratch, but she is willing to give in her time, effort and energy into bringing the best version of herself to the dances of the world portion of the competition.
Top Model
Karolina also discussed in the same interview how Miss World’s Top Model round is very different from the walking rounds of the other big big pageants. She stated how she has been working super hard to understand her angles and working with the camera, and just perfect the model in her by practising as much as possible from her end.
Head To Head
We know shit is super serious when somebody finds being quarantined as an opportunity for progress instead of a withdrawal from freedom. At the Miss World 2022 pageant, the contestants had to fly to Puerto Rico almost 14 days before the actual competition and stay in one hotel room, quarantining. Miss Polonia, revealed how she thought that it was an opportunity for her to prepare for the Head To Head Challenge, one of the most important rounds at the pageant. She stated that she found this round extremely important, as it was her one opportunity to show her skills, her communication and her intelligence, all at one place. She would listen to famous speakers, write down quotes and also make her own quotes and phrases, in hopes of perfecting the speech and personality rounds.
Karolina tells us how she believed in herself, while still remaining humble when in the same interview she states that all the women coming to the competition are incredibly beautiful and strong and everyone has something unique to offer. However, she is passionate and she has faith in herself, therefore she knew that she had everything she needed to be on that platform and her only task was to give her one hundred percent. She stressed on how she doesnt want to regret in future about what more could have been done from her end, and therefore she was giving her all to her dream of being Miss World. What her story teaches us is the fact that yes, we might not be the best at something, but presenting our best self for it will always take us a long way.
